Jason Boland's 'False Accuser's Lament' a Continuation of 'Long Black Veil'

What if the Lefty Frizzel's classic "Long Black Veil" was told from the silent lover's point of view? That's what Jason Boland gives us with "False Accuser's Lament" from the 2011 album "Rancho Alto".


Originally done by Frizzel, "Long Black Veil" was also a big hit for Johnny Cash. When Boland was putting the final touches on his song, it occured to him that with a little tweaking, it could be the back story to "Long Black Veil". He says he loves "black veil" but he never really agreed with how the whole story went down.
